Massive surf to pummel the country and wrap to all shores the whole week! The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau contest at Waimea Bay is looking for a probable go Monday or Tuesday with 20-30ft waves coming in. I’m out there…
BIg Swells on the horizon
Ethan, November 30th 2009 |Waimea Bay
Went to check the waves in the country and Waimea Bay was probably the cleanest today, besides maybe some outer reefs. It was about 10-15ft. with some bigger sets. The sun was out and tourists are in full effect on the North Shore. I was amazed at how many girls were paddling out and catching double overhead waves. I counted like five or six girls that were out there. I think that’s awesome that more girls are stepping up and making a place for themselves in the lineup at Waimea.
Hawaii boy Joel Centeio wins Haleiwa Pro
Local boy Joel Centeio won the first jewel of the Vans Triple Crown today at Haleiwa, the Reef Hawaiian Pro. Surf was pumping in the 6-8 ft. range with semi-challenging conditons. Centeio edged out Jay Thompson (AUS), CJ Hobgood (USA), and Alain Riou (PYF) respectively to take the win. Congratulations, that’s one for the Hawaiians!
the country has officially awakened
Went North Shore this morning. Not as big as yesterday but still had size. Checked Pipe first where it was good but winds started to get on it early. Then went to check the Xcel Pro at Sunset where I watched like the last 5 min. of it.
